Come Dine With Me

I've been watching a lot of Come Dine With Me lately and it got me thinking what I would serve if I were to throw a dinner party for 5 strangers.

Then I came up with a dream menu and a reality menu. Behold:

Dream Cocktail: Mojitos.
Reality Cocktail: Rum and Coke.

Dream Wine: Between €20 - €30 a bottle.
Reality Wine: Between €9 -€14 a bottle.

Dream Appetizer: Pear and Goat's Cheese Tart (on puff pastry topped with chives and a drizzle of honey.)
Reality Appetizer: Caesar Salad, probably from a bag.

Dream Main: Roast chicken with stuffing and gravy, roasted potatoes, broccoli, and steamed carrots.
Reality Main: Chicken parm. That's breaded chicken with mozzarella on it over pasta and tomato sauce. Or: Chicken fajitas.

Dream Dessert: Red velvet cupcakes with cream cheese frosting OR chocolate chip cupcakes with mint frosting.
Reality Dessert: Cadbury Mini-Rolls and tea.

I would, of course, be heavily reliant on Marks and Spencer to help me prepare my feast (both dream and reality), and if anyone got food poisoning, I'd blame the oven.

With a night like that lined up, who wouldn't want to come dine with me?

Great menu! I'm glad I'm not the only one who can't concentrate on the show because you're too busy thinking of the fab food you'd serve if you were on the show. Mine always revolves around homemade Louisiana gumbo. Of course I'd fail as I wouldn't be able to find andouille here.

I'll come dine with you. And I pick the realistic menu. Goat's cheese is blech. Plus, you cook that menu so frequently, I know it will be good! ;-)

I'll come dine with you ANYTIME!!

I wish we had a version of that show here in my country...I enjoyed watching it with you and I remain thunderstruck at the way the guests reacted to one another! (Easy on the wine there, folks!!)
