Well, we made it. We're back in the US of A, safe and sound. Ellen was a charmer the first 5 hours of the 6 hour flight, but that last hour was a killer. I blame the descent! Some super nerd sitting across the aisle from us told me, 'You know, if it cries," while pointing to Ellen, "you have to buy everyone on the plane a drink."
I wanted to punch is stupid face, but instead, I told him, "If she cries, everyone on this plane has to buy me a drink." He said nothing to me for the rest of the flight and glanced our way a few times, probably trying to get a glimpse of my breasts while I was nursing her. He seemed the type. A 40 year old virgin.
EK had many admirers on the flight, and several people came up to me afterwards saying how good she was and how adorable she is. It was a good feeling!
We met my parents, my sister, and my niece outside baggage claim, which was a wonderful reunion. My niece even patted my arm to make sure I was real (we Skype a lot.) She's so gorgeous in real life, and she looks so big now! The last time I saw her was in December.
We've been to BJ's and Whole Foods. I think both were culture shock experiences for the SJC, because, when you stop to think about it, who in the world needs 18 bars of soap in one go? Or one gallon of shampoo? Or 120 rolls of paper towels? Saves you money in the long run, but you probably need a separate bunker to store everything.
Our trip to Whole Foods can be summed up with the following quote from the SJC, "Is this place notoriously expensive?" Yes, yes it is.
EK has been adjusting slowly but surely, as have we all. The weather has been kind to us, in the low to mid 70s, but tomorrow the party is over. It's supposed to be in the 80s. This will be interesting...

Welcome home Liz! I admire you're restraint to the 40 year old virgin man. I would have pointed Henry in his general direction any time he had that projectile spit-up look.
Thank you, Moe! That guy was a real bastard. He was also a cricket fan. Do these two things go hand in hand??
Welcome Home!!!!! Hope your visit is wonderful =)
Welcome, welcome! Sounds like they rolled out the red carpet for you! Glad things are going well so far and that Ellen seems to be sleeping like a champ. We'll need to skype!
Welcome back! The guy sounds like a jerk, you were nicer than me :) Tell SJC that Lee, 3 years on, still can't get over how expensive Whole Foods is!
Great comeback to the 40 year old virgin! What a jerk. Glad everyone else was friendly :-)
I'm so glad things are going well, good luck with the heat! Thank God for A/C!
What a super nerd!! Happy you made it safe and sound xo
Welcome home!! :) You are going to be so happy back here! And btw, diapers at BJs are out-of-this-world cheaper than anywhere else. Horde the coupons.
Enjoy the homecoming!
