Back In The Saddle Again

Yes, I've disappeared from this blog here for over a week, and for good reason.Hey, did you know that babies need schedules? Indeed, they thrive on schedules? Who knew!? (Apparently everyone but me...) So I've been trying to get EK on a schedule for the past few weeks, and I think it's starting to work. She sleeps through the night AND she takes naps during the day. What the whaaaat?

Anyway, all that aside, I'm going to make an honest effort to start blogging again.

Don't you want to know what life is like trying to repatriate to your home country? Aren't you dying to know the goings-on of my day? I know you all do (not) and don't worry, I'll deliver up some gems on a silver platter.

Like take today, for example. We woke up at 8:30am, tried to put EK down for a nap around 10, but was more successful when I tried again around noon. She slept for 2.5 hours, then I went to Dunkin Donuts where that fuck behind the counter put cream and sugar into my iced coffee when I specifically asked for milk and one sugar. That son of a bitch. And that's about all I did today. Oh, wait. I also danced around my room to 'Statesboro Blues' by the Allman Brothers when ZLX was playing a classic rock block this evening.

EK is hitting all her milestones nicely. She's a little bit raspy these days and teething like a lunatic, which is awesome. The SJC is in New Zealand for the Rugby World Cup, and the time difference is a bit of a killer.

In other news, I've been waxing nostalgic about Dublin, mostly likely because the weather today reminds me of Dublin (60s and rainy.) While I miss my pals and having car, I have to say that it's very convenient to just jump in the car and go to Babies R Us or Magic Beans on a whim to get a teething ring or what have you.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to look in to how I can make some friends. My Mom suggested going to the library. We'll see how this all pans out.

Welcome back :) Now tell me how to get my daughter on a nap schedule because all we get is 20 minutes here and there. And 8:30 wakeup? Nice! I can't complain since we get 12 hours of sleep at night but 8:30 would be awesome. Except for that 3.5 year old of mine who would never sleep that late anyway.

Meeting friends - join a playgroup, meetup has some. And library storytime actually is a good way to meet people! Or move to Atlanta!

I am using a method called 'cry it out, kid, and learn to be independent.' Also known as 'irrational fear that the kid feels abandoned, but your ears are bleeding from the screams, and you need a break.' We used to get 20 minutes here and there, and she would be so exhausted by 11pm that she'd pass out. We started to swaddle her (yeah, we didn't do that right away because we thought she hated it) and apparently that helps too. I look forward to the 12 hour sleeps, so far we've only gotten 10.

Thank you for the tips on how to make friends! I will look into all these options!

Indeed, Kim, she is teething. No teeth have sprouted yet, but she has sore gums and I can feel some tooth nubs. It's not awesome.

Oh jaysus, not looking forward to the teething phase. Henbot drools constantly, but no teeth. E must be mega-advanced she's trying to get her teeth in so she can eat steak.

You did get the LifeFactory teether right? Right? I want to feel like I was of some assistance so feel free to lie if you have to.

Hey Liz,

If you want parent friends go to the Cole Center on Boden Ln. Search Natick Family Network on Google. Also, between 9:30 and 12:00 at Murphy field there is a ton of people.

Moe, she has no teeth yet, but her gums are bothering her. I have yet to buy her a teether, but I will this week. I'm a bad mother.

Thanks, Josh, I will look into this.

Love that your mom suggested going to the library. My mom would say the same thing.
